My Thanksgiving Therapy Cat Visit… and Reward!

Somali cat after therapy cat visit

Because my human wasn’t cooking or traveling far for Thanksgiving dinner, she decided to use the extra time to take me on a therapy cat visit to one of our regular hospitals. This particular one has lots of child patients, and she thought I might brighten the day of families who had to spend the day in the hospital with their kid.

But you know which patients got the biggest benefit out of my visit? Two older men, probably in their late 60s or 70s. They had beds in the same large room, but weren’t related. They each were there with younger family members and neither of them spoke English well. But as you know, that’s no big deal for a therapy cat, since talking isn’t necessary. These two men just wanted me to lie down on their chest and allow myself to be petted. Such a simple request! And it was easy to comply. In fact, that is really my favorite thing to do. I am always a little disappointed when I’m not allowed on the bed. I could tell how nice I made them feel and I almost didn’t want to leave.

My therapy visit was a pleasant break in a peaceful day. Then the humans went out to dinner with friends and came back with… leftover salmon!

I considered it my therapy cat reward. Even if I did have to share.

If you are on Facebook, you can see the live video here. In case you are wondering, my human had to put Binga’s salmon on the kitchen floor because she would have taken her finger off otherwise. If you want to see Boodie sitting up, go to the 2:05 mark.
