How Pokémon Go Helped Save Tiny Ginger Kitten Stuck Behind Electric Box
A kitten with a pair of large ears found himself stuck behind a utility box. It took a village to save him and months to earn his trust, but the results were worth all the efforts.

“I started playing Pokémon Go (last summer) and decided to go for a stroll in my hometown,” reddit user

shares the story with Love Meow.
It was about 43º C (109º F) outside when zerofatorial was alerted by what it seemed to be a bird sound. They walked up to an electric utility box where the sound came from and found a ginger kitten crying from behind the box. The poor kitten was wedged and couldn’t move at all. “He must have been there for a long time, since he barely had energy to cry.”
They immediately called firefighters to help. After trying to use oil to free the kitten to no avail, they decided to get some tools to help tilt the box.
“Despite their many efforts, the firemen could not tilt it.” They started to lose hope, but the little kitten wasn’t giving up. A firefighter gave the ginger boy some water, and he drank it right away. They knew they had to keep trying.

A man from the electric company traveled 30 minutes from another city to offer some help. With his key, they were able to open the box.
After a few more attempts, they finally figured out a way to move the box further away from the wall and free the kitten.

The little kitten was exhausted but still tried to escape. A firefighter managed to grab him and got him some water.
After three hours and a collective effort from many people, the kitten was finally safe.

The kind person, who found the kitten, took him home that night. They named him Spock because of his big ears.
However, the little feline wanted nothing to do with the humans.

But somehow he grew to love the family pets (two cats and a dog).
“We were so surprised he didn’t hiss at my dog and just acted ‘normally’ around him.”

The kitten got a much-needed bath.
After that, the mother of the family plucked out all the fleas from the kitten, one by one.

She fed him around the clock and nursed him back the health.
Slowly the kitten began to trust and even let them pick him up.

Four months later, Spock has transformed into a beautiful ginger cat.
“He’s huge! Look at his tail. The vet said he was about 6 months old and would keep growing.”

“He doesn’t hiss at us anymore and he plays A LOT with the other animals.”
For the very first time, he let his human pet him on the head and enjoyed it.

Young Woman Lost Her Life Trying to Save Her Cats from Burning House so They Could Live
A young woman died after trying to rescue her two beloved cats from a burning house. She was found lying on the ground holding one of her cats.
Her family didn’t stop looking for her other cat. Two days later, they found her!

Yueh-ling Tsai, 23 years old, from Taiwan loved her two cats like her own children. They were her pride and joy.
After the house was engulfed in fire, Tsai believed that her cats were still
trapped inside
. She couldn’t bear seeing them perish in the fire, so went back in an attempt to save them, but she never made it out alive.
After they put out the
massive blaze
, the firefighters found the body of Tsai lying on the ground holding one of her cats, but the other cat “Duoduo” was nowhere to be found.

Tsai’s aunt,
Yumi Wu
, immediately went on Facebook, asking for help to look for Duoduo. “She is still alive, she is our only hope. Finding her will help Yueh-ling rest in peace,” Wu said.
Two days after the fire, they found Duoduo alive!
“Duo duo was found in the grass in the morning,” Wu updated. They took her to the vet and got her treated right away.
She suffered from a mild burn, but the brave little kitty is doing well and in good spirits with help from the vets. She will need further treatment, but she’s on the mend.
Finding Duoduo gave the family the comfort they needed after the terrible loss. “Duoduo is Yueh-ling’s most beloved child.”
“Duoduo will continue to live strong, and we will look after her for the rest of her life,” Wu said.

New Year’s Eve Thoughts
It’s New Year’s Eve, and I’m dressed up and ready to say good-bye to 2016. I know a lot of humans are ready to say good-bye to this year too, and a lot of them are worried about 2017 and what it will bring. But you know what? There are things over which neither humans nor kitties have control, and you should not worry about them. Instead, think about the things you can change, and do those. If you are taking action and working hard to do what you can, you may help yourself and others in ways that will surprise you. Maybe you can make small changes in your community that will send waves that go out into your whole city. You know, that is how rescue humans are working to create a No Kill Nation. You can use the same approach for anything that is important to you.
Also remember that important kitty lesson: live in the now and care about what is right in front of you. If you are too concerned about things from the past, or that might happen in the future, you miss a lot of opportunities that are going on right at this moment. That is how I am able to jump on the counter and steal food before my human serves it to us. Breakfast is in the future, but instead of thinking about that, I see an opening where I can go get my food right now! Okay, so maybe that is not the best example, but I think you know what I mean.
Anyhow, there may be bad stuff happening in 2017. There may be some good stuff happening too. Probably a mixture of both — nobody knows for sure. But you can do something now to make a difference, in your life and in others’ lives. I hope you give that some thought as you ring in the new year.
I also hope you have a good New Year’s Eve and that nobody annoying crashes your party!

Pilates Can Help PMS Symptoms
If you suffer from PMS (pre-Menstrual syndrome) then please be aware that you can find relief through the regular practice of Pilates. There are also other ways that you can reduce the systems such as introducing lifestyle changes, eating a healthy diet and practising regular exercise. In this article I’m going to share with you some of the ways that you can use Pilates to reduce symptoms.
PMS is estimated to affect between 75% and 80% of all menstruating women. Symptoms are varied but can include back pain, mood swings, headaches and breast tenderness. It is thought that fluctuating hormones cause the symptoms. Let’s look at each symptom and how Pilates can help.
Back pain. Practising some form of exercise for 30 to 40 minutes on 3 to 5 days a week can not only keep our bodies fit, but it can keep muscles stretched and strengthened. One of the benefits of Pilates is that the spine is mobilised during the exercises and this can give relief to tight back muscles and the nerves that get affected by uterine contractions.
Discomfort in the stomach area and menstrual cramps can be eased by laying on your back with the knees lifted and bent. Breathe in and as you breath out, then lift the hips from the floor. Be sure to curl through your spine, breathe in again at the peak of the movement and then breath out as you come back down, with one vertebrae at a time.
The cat stretch is another move that will help to ease the back. Go on all fours then curl up the back into an arch, just like a cat. Inhale and exhale with each movement. Each breath will massage your internal organs and the back stretch will release tension around the spine.
End with the child pose. Sit with your hips on your heels and stretch your arms out forward as you go forward bending your back. Do this for as long as you like.
Menstrual cramps. Any exercise that works the abs can help with menstrual cramps. Exercising with deep breathing can produce endorphins that will not only help to ease the pain, but it will leave you with a sense of well-being.
The side hip extension can be of great benefit. To do this you need to lie on your right side. Put your right hand beneath your head with the weight of your head on your arm. Now position your legs straight and to the front of you at 30 degrees. Now lift your left leg, bring it forward and point your toe, then push it back for a count of two. Keep your torso and hips in the same position as you repeat this for up to ten times. Then work on the other side.
Pilates can do a lot for the PMS sufferer. Remember that keeping to a healthy diet can do a lot of good too. Avoid white flour, refined sugar and keep dairy product intake low. Fill your meals with fresh vegetables, salads and fresh fruit to keep your immune system and your hormones at their peak. Pilates is a powerful medicine and by practising it regularly and consistently, you can alleviate some of the symptoms of PMS if not all.

Stray Cat Saved from Under Bridge Can't Stop Thanking Her Rescuer
A cat was stuck under a bridge desperately crying for help. When an animal control officer found the poor stay, he climbed over a fence to save her.

The homeless cat found herself trapped under the foot bridge over Geary at Webster (San Francisco), crying for help.
When Officer Martinez of
San Francisco Animal Care & Control
spotted the cat, he climbed over a chainlink fence in order to get to her.
“Officer Martinez channeled his inner chimp to rescue a cat stuck under a bridge,”

Eventually he was able to pull up the bottom of the fence to make room for the cat to slide out. He then gently pulled the kitty out to safety where a carrier with a warm blanket awaited her.

The cat was very hungry and was only skin and bones.
She is now being cared for at SFACC.

Officer Martinez comforted the little stray and let her know that he would get her to a safe place where there would food, warmth and love.
“He is an incredible Animal Control Officer,” Officer Edith said.

“[The cat] was emaciated and dehydrated and was chuffed to bits to get her laughing gear around a bowl of meat paste,” Officer Edith wrote.
First big meal after a long while. She was a very happy kitty!
The Bridge Kitty is so grateful to have food and a warm place to stay that she can’t stop thanking her rescuers.
