A fluffy kitten with a pair of crooked front legs came to
Chatons Orphelins Montréal
(Orphan Kittens Montreal) for a chance at a better life.
“She was born with a deformation which caused her two front legs to bend at a 90 degree angle,” Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montreal told
Love Meow
.
She was literally crawling on her elbows. They took her to the veterinarian to get her examined, and the vet decided to try to correct her legs so she could get a chance to walk like any other kitten.
Phoebie was the sweetest little girl who never complained at the vet’s office. She enjoyed her human companions and purred when they tended to her medical needs.

After the surgery, her front legs were bandaged up but she already couldn’t wait to try to walk on her four paws.
“At the beginning, she struggled to walk, but after 24 hours, she was able to slide herself on the ground to walk,” Celine told Love Meow.

The progress she made was incredible during a short period of time. Before they removed her bandages, she had already learned to use her front legs. Her determination to walk was simply amazing.
“She began to play and then to run and jump so quickly. She was so strong and tolerated the splints so well.”

After five weeks of treatment, her front legs were almost completely straight. They were surprised to see the strength in her legs.
“She had to develop her front leg muscles and to get used to walking and playing without the supports. Her stride was smooth but it took her a few more days to become comfortable walking,” Celine told Love Meow. “She played and jumped as if her condition never happened.”

Her back paws are very big and strong with her six toes on each. “It is as if nature compensated and gave her bears paws.”
“Phoebie is a kitten with a beautiful diva attitude. She likes to express herself and is not shy when she wants attention! She likes the company of other animals. She’s sweet and sociable.”

Today at three and a half months old, Phoebie can do anything just like other kittens as if she had never been born with a disability.
“Her paws are well recovered and she walks, runs and gallops. Phoebie is a force of nature.”

She moved by crawling on her elbows.
After the surgery and treatment, she learned to walk on her four paws.
Look at her now!
“Phoebie is now ready for the rest of her life.”
